These 30-minute sessions are quick, fun for the kiddos, and stress-free for parents. Some people wear their Christmas PJs or Christmas plaid, but most families aim for timeless portraits that work for both the annual Christmas Card and your wall. One of the things you should know about me as a photographer is that I tend to ignore parents at the beginning of a mini-session. I prepare you for this and try to answer all of your questions before the session, but I only have 10-15 minutes in a mini-session to get your kiddos to like me and come alive for the camera. So as soon as your kiddos come in, I spend all my energy getting to know them and building a connection with them. Sometimes that means we are running races or dancing or even jumping on the bed.
With the H family, each kiddo is different. James, the oldest, and I talked a bit about school and solved some algebraic equations right on my studio paper. Martin is a complete goofball who I had jumping all over the studio and laughing and all my antics. Charlotte looked at me and told me that she wasn’t in the mood to pose or smile and not in a rude way. Charlotte knows her own mind and I knew respected her wishes by first capturing images of her siblings and having her help with the camera. When you’re three and you see a few images pop up, you naturally want to see yourself on the back of the camera, too. Charlotte clearly joined the fun on her own after that moment of connection with me. We didn’t have to bribe or have a tantrum because she knew I was listening to and respecting her.
Because the H family has worked with me several times, mom and dad trusted my process and the results are fantastic! I even had a moment to capture Corey and Jeb alone while all the kiddos were going nuts either chatting with me or destroying my toy corner.

Ava’s Timeless Baby Portraits Greenville SC
Ava is the sweetest bubbliest little one. Obviously attached to her mama and daddy, Ava smiled anytime they interacted with her. This made pictures so easy! This timeless setup on my white bed and curtain wall is used for nearly every session. The cream color is timeless and classic and allows for both comfortable relational portraits with parents as well as a soft surface for your little one’s portraits. It also offers a soft slightly romantic feel.
I love how we captured all of Ava’s special faces including sticking out her tongue in joy! Ava wasn’t walking yet, even though she was one. I’d say 3/4 of my one-year-olds aren’t yet walking, but that doesn’t mean crawlers aren’t fast! I’m always wearing my workout clothes so I can keep up with them moving around. I let my one-year-old clients play and be themselves whether they’re smiling or crying or cuddling mama. All these moments matter equally and eventually we capture the smiling faces!
Ava finished her session with a mile bath with flowers. She loved the bath so much until she took a bite out of the coneflower. She did not like the feeling of the coneflower’s center on her sensitive gums and that resulted in the sweet little crying face in the bottom right corner of the above collage. That image make my mama-heart ache for the day when I could scoop up my littles and solve everything with a cuddle.

2022Looking for Holiday Mini Sessions Photography Simpsonville SC? During the Christmas season, I offer Simply Family Mini Sessions on select Saturdays. We keep the backdrops classic cream and some family’s wear holiday themed clothes while others keep it simple to use their family pictures on their walls or as gifts. Sessions are shorts at just under half an hour which is perfect for two and four year old children like A and S! Best of all, clients are able to pick their five favorite images as digital files with options to purchase more or design printed holiday cards. Click here to contact me about current dates.

The G family has been coming to see me since S was barely two. S thinks that a day in the studio is pretty much like going to the playground. I really play with kids. From making elephant and rooster noises to tossing crescent shaped bean bag pillows to racing or playing tag at the studio, I really try to win your kiddo over with play. I’m always a sweaty mess at the end of the session, but it’s completely worth it to capture pictures that truly capture your little one’s personality. When mama W told me how S felt about sessions being so fun, I was delighted to know that she remembers me so well! I want both the parents and the children to have a great experience in the studio!
Mr. A was full force two year old boy at this session so my willingness to chase and play really made a difference as he went from having a great time to refusing to participate multiple times during the session. You wouldn’t guess that from the images, would you?

This is the T family’s third session with me. First, we did a newborn session with Lachlan which you can see here. Then, last year they also did a family mini session which you can view here. Watching Lachlan (and the T family) grow is such a joy!
Lachlan is still a daddy’s boy. No one can make him smile like daddy doing goofy voices behind me. It’s fantastic. Like all two year old kids, Lachlan was a little cautious and shy in the new space. He’s normally talking a mile a minute, but it took him a bit to talk to me! That’s okay though because Cassie and Micah had talked to Lachlan about the session, who I was, and practiced silly faces. I find it really helps kids of all ages to know what’s expected of them in any new situation, but especially in a photography studio. I can always tell when parents invested the time to talk up the session.
Finally, we finished up the session with a few images of Cassies growing bump. Pregnancy is such a joyous time and you can tell just how much their new little guy is already loved.

Lindsey and Caleb always choose to focus on family relationships during their sessions. They want to remember how their love has grown right along with how quickly Claire and Reid are growing up. These mama-babies and daddy-babies images capture the heart of their family culture: gentle care and adoration!
The 
Having welcomed sweet Reid since their last session, a sibling picture was also high on our priorities. With an age gap of around 2 years, sibling pictures can be tricky. However, with a few well placed elephant noises from behind my mask we managed some smiles!
