2015C came to the studio for her maternity session with her twin girls S & K. Her twins are exactly the same age as mine and these girls were just as silly. There was lots of tickling, giggling, and girly foolishness. Which was a good thing, because C’s baby is a little girl as well!
They absolutely loved seeing their mama wear the “princess wedding dress” from Sew Trendy Accessories. This gown is a part of the Quiet Graces Mama Wardrobe, available for use by both expecting and new mamas in the studio.
C waited a long time for this new baby. This dream baby was prayed over a for many years as she patiently waited for the Lord to answer. And He did answer, as always, in His own time.
My favorite part of working with this family was receiving a personal email from C’s husband after each session just thanking me for seeing the beauty in his precious girls. It just about melted my heart both times!
I can’t wait to meet baby E in the studio soon!

2015Remember sweet peanut Gideon? He was all of 6 pounds and very smiley at his newborn session.
One year later and he’s a big boy with who is still amazingly smiley!
Better yet, I’ve had a string of baby boys who were totally uninterested in (and perhaps even disgusted by) their cake. Not Gideon. This little guy LOVED his cake. He even licked his cake support clean. You have to watch the video to enjoy it fully!
Interested in doing a cake smash and one year session with your sweet little one? Great! I would love to tell your story. Click here to contact me about booking your own session.

2015Lily came to help me and Amy of Portraits by Amy Lynn sharpen our skills on a few different newborn poses.
I was at Amy’s home studio so I got to play with some new props and angles as well as work with another photographer for the first time since I assisted Katie of Seek Joy with triplets. We had a blast and both of us loved having 4 hands and eyes!
I don’t do model calls very often, but when I do you’ll find me calling for models either through email or on my Facebook page. Join the email list (and receive a free gift!) here and like my page to stay updated.

2015Melisa and Omar came to the studio so deeply in love and expecting their first child, a boy named Daniel. The following image is probably my favorite, but I can’t choose whether I love color or black & white best, so you’ll get to choose for yourself!
The best moment in this sessions was when I asked Omar to whisper something into her ear that would get Melisa to smile. I have no idea what he said, but I’m pretty certain it was hilarious… and perhaps racy since it warranted a good slap 😉
Melisa made everything in the Quiet Graces studio mama wardrobe look lovely. The gown above from Sew Trendy Accessories was one of our favorites on Melissa. All of the wardrobe is in larger sizes to accomodate a baby belly and fit a large variety of shapes. I had to pin everything in for Melisa.
For Melisa’s session I experimented with a new lighting technique called “dream light”. It’s a fitting name because she looks like she’s inside a dreamy lit cloud. This will definitely be a regular part of my maternity galleries!

2015Sweet little Maya came to visit me in my Taylor’s Studio. We played around with a bit of color to match her purple and grey nursery. I usually keep my sessions pretty neutral colored to highlight all of your little one’s beautiful features, but this was a fun change of pace since I had back drops in both colors in the studio.
Maya’s parents were both detail oriented engineers which led naturally into a discussion of newborn details. We laughed about the hundreds of things no one tells new parents. Like the color of a newborn poop. Or what sleep deprivation actually feels like. Or how hard you can tap your baby while burping them without breaking them. Or that girls can pee all over you during a diaper change just the same as boys. Or what the immediately postpartum body really looks like.
Conversations like this are one of the reasons that I pursued newborn photography as my business focus. To be there for new parents in their early days of uncertainty and just say “I’ve been there too. What you’re feeling is normal.” is my favorite part of any newborn session.
Being detail oriented also means that Maya’s parents read and followed every detail of my parent prep guide. Maya drifted off to sleep like a champion after a warm studio feeding and allowed me to pose her in so many set ups.
We were even able to sneak a few parent images in their Petite session 🙂
