2016I offer two types of Newborn Photography Sessions, the Heirloom (the whole shebang with family and props and siblings) or the Petite. Elena’s mom booked the Petite Newborn Mini Session.
This session includes 10-15 digital files and birth announcements. Petites are shorter (usually 1-1.5 hours rather than up to 3 with an heirloom) and focus just on the newness of your baby. We usually just use a few wraps, a headband or bonnet, and one or two backdrop fabrics.
I will give you instructions to make sure your baby sleeps through the session, but if your baby happens to be awake, that’s what I’ll photograph. I like to keep my Petites relaxed and informal.
Elena’s mom followed my prep instructions and we got a good variety of sleepy images, but then Elena woke up (and messed up a wrap… yes, newborn diaper messes are a normal part of my job. Doesn’t she look so Innocent as she stared at me before falling back asleep?!).
We were able to take a few awake images with Elena wrapped in an exquisite linen and lace family heirloom blanket and wearing a precious white dress before our time was up.
Short, Sweet, Perfect.

2016Little Rider and his mommy Christine came into the studio to model my boy studio wardrobe.
I’ve been collecting a baby (and mama!) wardrobe for the past year to help my clients with styling their sessions. Searching for a the perfect outfit for portraits can be a total pain. And usually what we love most is only worn for pictures and maybe to church or a party before it’s outgrown. So I began to assemble some beautiful classic options with a vintage feel for my clients to use during their session.
My wardrobe covers size 6 month to 2t and is mainly neutral creams, tans, and yellows with a few touches of pink and mint. I like for the style and colors to keep the focus on your baby.
Most parents still bring one treasured outfit as well as have their older baby photographed naked so we can capture all of the yummy rolls and squishiness that makes their baby unique.
I also made Christine join in some of the pictures with Rider. She’s wearing a piece from my high end mama wardrobe here. I love photographing mamas with their babies because sometimes our insecurities make us forget just how important we are to our child’s visual history. Our children think their mamas are the most beautiful creatures on earth. I love capturing that for them to remember.
Would you like a session with your little one where all you have to worry about is showing up? No complicated wardrobe shopping is needed here. Click here to book now.

2016Lydia came back to see me for her Simpsonville Cake Smash Photography. I can’t wait any longer to share this little bottle of joy with you.
The Importance of Pre-Session Planning
Pre-Session planning helps make a cake smash run smoothly. 12 month old babies run on a tight schedule and when they are done… well, they are DONE.
I tend to shy away from overdone prop filled sessions in favor of simple set ups that keep the focus on your little one’s precious expressions. Lydia’s mama loved that!
Lydia’s mama and I tossed around a few ideas for this cake smash. Lydia loves to get messy, but consuming food isn’t one of her strong skills yet.
So while we did a traditional cake smash, we also decided to explore a new avenue: one year old fine art.
Lydia painted a canvas at the end of her session! I think this is an excellent choice for a baby who has oral struggles or a parent who hasn’t introduced wheat or sugar or who has food allergies, but boy was it messy!
So we decided to finish with a couple of baths 🙂
The Studio Wardrobe
Over the last year, I have collected a studio wardrobe of vintage and timeless pieces for portraits. Most of the studio wardrobe is cream or soft muted colors. No need to take a teething baby shopping or stress over whether or not something ordered online will fit. Most parents bring one special outfit and shop the studio rack while I do the first few images.
We chose this true vintage pintucked dress and knit bonnet for Lydia and I love how they complimented her skin tone.

2016This photo definitely wins my award for the most amazing siblings with a newborn image this year! S and K loved baby E and apparently she loves them too! I could not stop smiling when this image appeared on my screen.
Baby E was just the perfect little model. We did so many amazing poses and set up in the studio. Baby E is a rainbow baby; a little one here after pregnancy loss. She was prayed for over the course of many years before we were blessed with her presence and I was so happy to have met her!
Mommy specifically requested capturing all of the tiny newborn details that we so quickly forget. Having had twins first, mommy’s memories of all these precious details were scare and she did not want to forget them this time around. Macros make some of the sweetest images.
During this session, I was able to use all creams colored backdrops and wraps. If I could photograph just one color and never be bored it would be cream. the neutral color just showcases all of the yummy baby goodness.
We even had a second to sneak outside my studio door for an image 🙂
Baby E’s mommy is from Malaysia and her parents were visiting for a few months while they welcomed sweet baby E. It was an honor to be able to capture extended family portraits with all of the grandparents during this special time.

2015Photographing twins is my absolute favorite… mostly because the entire experience is a walk down memory lane for me. My twin girls turned 6 the same week these beautiful twins were born.
To be able to encourage a twin mama in the throes of simultaneously falling deeply in love with two babies and waging the incredibly difficult war of sleeplessness is such a gift. We whisper breastfeeding stories and talk about the mechanics of tandem feeding and the panic that comes with each growth spurt. There is talk of schedule being king and is it ever okay to just feed the awake baby and let the other baby sleep in the middle of the night.
But mostly there is just shared wonder. Wonder that two humans grew at the same time inside of you. Wonder that they are here and real and beautiful. Wonder that you were given this precious gift of ready made siblings and sleep deprivation. Wonder at the sheer joy of it all.
Henry and Evelyn were perfect. Mom and dad kept them up just a bit before feeding them and driving right over. For the first part of the session, I never even saw their eyes. Over an hour and half of just posing and cuddling sweet little ones. My favorite. Henry was so laid back. Patient and kind with me.
Evelyn had a few more opinions than Henry. See that adorable tiny hand above her head? That was all Evelyn’s idea. It took me awhile to coax her to bring it down.
The little sweeties started getting hungry as we took the parent images. See Evelyn trying to nurse on smiling Henry’s head? That used to happen with my girls all the time. One or the other would have wet slimy hair when it was time to feed them because their sister had been nursing on their hair before crying out to be fed.
Anna and Nathan are just such wonderful parents. Patient. Relaxed. Already laughing about the craziness of twin newborns.
Henry was the exact same weight and height that my girls had been. The back wrinkles make me laugh knowing how tiny he really was.
Evelyn was roughly a pound heaver that her brother and it really shows in her filled out cheeks.Looking for a Greenville SC Twin Newborn Photographer? I would love to hear your twin story and encourage you in those early sleep deprived weeks. Contact me today to get your due date on my calendar.
