2016Meet sweet baby Daniel. You can see his parents at their maternity shoot by clicking here.
This little guy. Three little words. Luscious kissable lips. Seriously?
And this smile. Icing on an already adorable cake. Are you kidding me?!
There are some sessions where I feel like I have the best job on the planet. Sweet baby snuggles, encouraging new mamas, and just being able to make an income with creativity and joy.

2016I get asked if I do newborn baby pictures outside of the normal 0-15 day window a lot. And the answer is: yes! I never turn someone away based on the age of their baby.
However, I do prepare clients that after those first two weeks we’ll likely be capturing more open eyes and smiles with less and less squishy sleepy pictures. Newborn photography relies on “womb memory,” or the baby being so fresh from the womb that they still like to be squished and are super flexible. Babies under 15 days will typically let an experienced photographer pose her in so many ways.
Older infants do pose a challenge. I have photographed a number of 4-8 week babies and usually manage one sleepy pose and lots of fun expressions. Here are Noah’s and Kyran’s sessions from around 6 weeks old!
Sweet Vannei was an exceptional subject. We even got a smile!
Vannei was 7 weeks for her session, and while we did get a fair number of awake images, she also fell asleep very soundly for part of the session. Her parents had made sure she was awake for a little bit prior to coming to the studio, so she fell asleep after a little milk and cuddles.
I began by posing very simply asleep: just cuddled on her back on my Flokati. She played peek a boo with me for a little bit, as if carefully judging my intentions, but eventually settled into a deep sleep.
And then she let me pose her like a newborn! We got a wonderful stretch of sleep time, and while she didn’t have the “womb memory” of a true newborn, she still posed beautifully!

2016Finley came back to see me for my baby and toddler mini’s. Last time I saw him he was just a few days old. Click here to see his sweet newborn pictures!
While Finley was an amazing sleeper and fabulously compliant newborn, he was not having it at this session. Not at all. We managed to sneak a few images, but he just wanted to be with his mommy.
Enter my secret weapon. It’s been a long time since I let the kitty into the studio, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. This BOY cat, dubbed “Princess Wand Ariel Mermaid Unicorn Pegasus” by my daughters loves children when they don’t chase him. I call this cat Hunter and he brought lots of smiles to Finley who finally warmed up to me.
But it was the rocking horse that brought all the smiles.
Baby mini sessions happen about once a quarter. Sometimes they sell out to my email newsletter subscribers before I make them public on the blog. Want to be on the newsletter list so you’re the first to know? Great! Click here.

2016Remember this doll with eyelashes for days?
She came back to see me and to wear this purple bonnet again. They grow so quickly!
Of course I made mommy jump in some pictures, because there is nothing more beautiful than a new mom loving on her little one.
Isabella came in to model my studio wardrobe for baby girls. These high end and vintage pieces mean that when you book a session with me, you don’t have to wardrobe shop for you little one under 2.
Isabella is a stoic when the camera comes out. She smiles all the time and is a happy baby, but her mom and dad have never been able to get a single smile on camera. But I got one! Just one and Izzy made us work for it, but it was such a joy to capture their happy baby in just one image for them!
But then we were back to her normal camera bewildered face :-p

2016Ezra, the youngest of 5 siblings, was the most amazing easy going little guy. It was warm enough during his Baby Mini Session that we were able to sneak outside the studio door for one outdoor image.
I seriously almost stole Ezra. Having a baby this happy in the studio is one of my favorite things.
Interested in booking a baby mini session? These sessions are offered on 1 day only in the studio each quarter.
