2016This sweet angel came back for a baby mini session! She’s almost two now, but I first met Zoey when she was almost 4 months old at her newborn session. This princess is a micro-preemie with an amazing story.
Her laughter and sweet easy going spirit are such evidences of God’s grace. If born even a few years earlier, Zoey may not be here. I’m sure God has amazing plans for the rest of her story.
I’m obsessed with eyelash images… Zoey’s lashes did not disappoint.
But neither did her smiles!
My favorite part of being a photographer is watching these babies grow up and hearing their stories. Every story has value. Every story is beautiful.

2016I can only share this one image of sweet Falynn, but when you read the story below, you’ll understand why it’s such an important image. It’s the story of a miracle.
“I wanted you to know that you taking these photos mean more to me than you’ll ever know. I missed out on the first days of life for the only child I’ll ever have. When I think of my baby, I see monitors and wires and IVs. I see blue skin and lifeless limbs. God delivered her from all of that and he did so while I was angry at him for sending her down that path. He healed her and gave her a miraculous story to share with people that need to hear it. And I want people to see the beauty that has come from the struggle. I want them to see her chubby cheeks and drool covered smile. I want people to see how her eyes light up with happiness and her feet kick with delight. And you’re making that possible. I am for certain that God had our paths cross for a reason and I am thankful that he did. I admire your beautiful perspective of the world and the generous heart in which you capture it.”

2016I love when my clients come to visit more than one time. Isabella’s mommy booked a Legacy session so I get to see her three times in her first year. You can view her newborn session by clicking here.
Here’s the thing about 6-12 month old babies. They either LOVE you… or they’re not so sure of you. Izzy wasn’t very sure of me. These faces crack me up!
While Izzy is such a sweet little girl and laughs at her mommy and daddy all the time, smiling for the camera had not happened yet. Not one picture in her entire 6 months of her beautiful smile. Every time the camera comes out Isabella gets all serious. But we sneaked a single smile out of this precious girl.
This hand knit dress that she’s wearing here is possibly my most favorite piece in my studio wardrobe for babies. It fits 6-18 months (and maybe beyond as a tunic) and is made of the softest alpaca blend yard.
Actually, everything Isabella wore for her session was from the studio wardrobe. We captured a little bit of her gloriously chunky little tummy in this cotton set of pants and bonnet.
Then we tried these beautiful vintage dresses from 1950. I love the timelessness of these dresses. The tiny pin tucks, the tone on tone embroidery.
And finally I dressed Mama up in one of our studio pieces. Mama wasn’t having it at first, but these images just make me smile. This is what motherhood looks like. Cuddles and soothing the grumpies. This is how our mama’s look to us. Gorgeous.

At almost every newborn session, babies will fall asleep for at least a few images. But sometimes your precious little one comes in with an agenda to be awake.
Adley was determined to be awake. We did catch a little cat nap all wrapped up like a miniature baby burrito. And she even flashed us a little smile.
But as soon as I unwound the swaddle, Adley was all curious sweetness. She watched me work no matter where I placed her. She sucked on Daddy’s finger and nursed with mommy a bit. Yet, in the end, she just wanted to be awake and watchful.
So we captured sweet Adley just as she was. Curious and bright eyed with unending variety in facial expressions. Yawn, stretches, smirks. She’s just so lovely.
It’s funny: sometimes I work so hard to get your baby to sleep and these awake images are often the ones you treasure the most. I try to get at least a few awake images at every session.
Adley, this almost fully awake session was such a treat.
