2016Meet sweet baby Daniel. You can see his parents at their maternity shoot by clicking here.
This little guy. Three little words. Luscious kissable lips. Seriously?
And this smile. Icing on an already adorable cake. Are you kidding me?!
There are some sessions where I feel like I have the best job on the planet. Sweet baby snuggles, encouraging new mamas, and just being able to make an income with creativity and joy.

2016I get asked if I do newborn baby pictures outside of the normal 0-15 day window a lot. And the answer is: yes! I never turn someone away based on the age of their baby.
However, I do prepare clients that after those first two weeks we’ll likely be capturing more open eyes and smiles with less and less squishy sleepy pictures. Newborn photography relies on “womb memory,” or the baby being so fresh from the womb that they still like to be squished and are super flexible. Babies under 15 days will typically let an experienced photographer pose her in so many ways.
Older infants do pose a challenge. I have photographed a number of 4-8 week babies and usually manage one sleepy pose and lots of fun expressions. Here are Noah’s and Kyran’s sessions from around 6 weeks old!
Sweet Vannei was an exceptional subject. We even got a smile!
Vannei was 7 weeks for her session, and while we did get a fair number of awake images, she also fell asleep very soundly for part of the session. Her parents had made sure she was awake for a little bit prior to coming to the studio, so she fell asleep after a little milk and cuddles.
I began by posing very simply asleep: just cuddled on her back on my Flokati. She played peek a boo with me for a little bit, as if carefully judging my intentions, but eventually settled into a deep sleep.
And then she let me pose her like a newborn! We got a wonderful stretch of sleep time, and while she didn’t have the “womb memory” of a true newborn, she still posed beautifully!

2016Let this newborn session go down in the history of Quiet Graces as the one with THE most amazing sibling ever! Meet Claire and her baby brother Miles.
At a young 3 years old she rocked all the sibling poses and her sweet brother was 11 pounds at just a few days old!
I took a few of just Claire at the end of the session while mom and dad were packing up to go. Her Mom and Dad have raised a curious and fun little girl who follows direction so well. I am sure Miles will follow in her footsteps.
This family was just so gorgeous and calm. Miles on the other hand wanted to party for the first 45 minutes of the session. He was wide awake and a little gassy.
Once we fixed the gassy issue, he drifted off into the most wonderful deep sleep. Sometimes my job just involves a lot of patience as I wait for these little ones to wear themselves out.
And once this big guy was asleep, he was perfect.

2016Noah’s hair. Really I think those are the only words I need to say about these Baby Pictures in Greenville SC. Yep, His hair is amazing.
Noah is six weeks old in these photos. Almost all of my newborn images are done prior to 20 days old, but usually at 6 weeks I can get a really fun assortment of facial expressions and one sleepy pose. With a lot of patience and a pacifier. 😉
Besides the amazing hair, Noah also has the most amazing lashes. I’m so jealous.
Noah’s daddy was being deployed so I squeezed this session in a packed schedule to make sure we got some great family pictures.
But I always love mommy images the very best. There’s something so sweet about a new mother with her little love. Even this little guy with his mischievous faces and hair pulling 🙂

2016I don’t have any pictures of the most beautiful part of Caroline’s Session because it happened while I was holding Caroline.
At one month old, Caroline was older than the typical newborn who comes to my studio. Normally I prefer to photograph little ones under 19 days old because they are so squishy and it’s much easier for them to sleep through the posing for a very long stretch.
As expected, Caroline arrived awake. And really wanted to hang out awake. She was nosily staring at my light, so I switched if off and began to rock her knowing that her mama really wanted some sleepy poses.
Caroline did not want to stop staring at me as I rocked and patted, but then her mommy came near to use. Resting her face against Caroline’s she sang to her while rubbing her forehead. I kept patting and bouncing and sweetly, Caroline drifted off to sleep.
Sometimes I can only use words to record the sweetest moments in my studio, but the sweet images the followed made the snuggles and singing that much sweeter.
