2016Stephanie’s sweet mama contacted me after my Down Syndrome Awareness Mini Sessions about having images taken of her sweet girl. With a sweet face like this one, how could I say no?
Her eyelashes (there’s a rumor that I have an obsession with eyelashes. It may or may not be true…) and those tiny little fingers won my heart immediately.
Stephanie has Trisomy 21 which is more commonly known as Down syndrome. However, a diagnosis does not define this little girl. She is a person first and a lovely one at that.
Stephanie’s curiosity and sweet smiles are a joy to her family and were grace to me for such a young little peanut.
Sweet Stephanie, may you grow in grace certain that you were made for a purpose and that you are loved.

2016It’s no secret that I love sweet sleepy posed newborn imagery. But just like big people, each tiny person who visits the studio has their own personality. Adley’s sweet personality meant that she would only settle for wide awake newborn pictures.
Either way, it’s okay. Asleep or awake, all babies are still treasures and I know that all a mama wants was to remember the miracle of their tiny baby. So we captured all of the bright and curious faces that Adley shared with us during her Petite Session.
My favorite thing about Adley were her long little toes! Just look at them. I never grow tired of seeing all of the millions of ways each sweet baby is created to be uniquely themselves. The most beautiful thing about my job is getting to see all of that uniqueness and hearing each story.
Most of the time babies won’t begin making eye contact with the camera until about 2-3 months old. Adley’s curious personality allowed her to look right at me for so many images. I love how so many in this series are so close to smiles!
Eventually Adley did get a little sleepy and so I wrapped her up like a little burrito and was able to get a sweet series of sleepy images.
And she smiled for us asleep too!

2016Meet Ava and Jack. These sweet newborn twins stole my heart.
Ava’s perfect little hair. The way Jack wanted nothing more than to be snuggled right into his sister. Even though I have my own set of twins, I never cease to be amazed by just how close two babies carried together can be. Their bond is nothing short of miraculous.
Ava and Jack arrived a little early (like all twins) and spent a few weeks in the NICU growing and learning to eat. By the time we were able to schedule them in the studio, they were 41 weeks gestation but had arrived many weeks earlier. I bundled them both up like burritos at the beginning of our time together to help them fall fast asleep.
Ava was super relaxed the entire session. Shortly after getting her wrapped up she drifted into a contented sleep.
Jack was most relaxed when he was cuddling Ava. When she wasn’t around he was wide eyed and super curious.

At almost every newborn session, babies will fall asleep for at least a few images. But sometimes your precious little one comes in with an agenda to be awake.
Adley was determined to be awake. We did catch a little cat nap all wrapped up like a miniature baby burrito. And she even flashed us a little smile.
But as soon as I unwound the swaddle, Adley was all curious sweetness. She watched me work no matter where I placed her. She sucked on Daddy’s finger and nursed with mommy a bit. Yet, in the end, she just wanted to be awake and watchful.
So we captured sweet Adley just as she was. Curious and bright eyed with unending variety in facial expressions. Yawn, stretches, smirks. She’s just so lovely.
It’s funny: sometimes I work so hard to get your baby to sleep and these awake images are often the ones you treasure the most. I try to get at least a few awake images at every session.
Adley, this almost fully awake session was such a treat.
