Newborn Twin Photographer Greenville SC : Ava and Jack

Meet Ava and Jack.  These sweet newborn twins stole my heart.

Ava’s perfect little hair. The way Jack wanted nothing more than to be snuggled right into his sister.  Even though I have my own set of twins, I never cease to be amazed by just how close two babies carried together can be. Their bond is nothing short of miraculous.

Ava and Jack arrived a little early (like all twins) and spent a few weeks in the NICU growing and learning to eat.  By the time we were able to schedule them in the studio, they were 41 weeks gestation but had arrived many weeks earlier. I bundled them both up like burritos at the beginning of our time together to help them fall fast asleep.

Ava was super relaxed the entire session. Shortly after getting her wrapped up she drifted into a contented sleep.

Jack was most relaxed when he was cuddling Ava.  When she wasn’t around he was wide eyed and super curious.

I just love soft neutral tones for baby photography.  This little guy, a cream backdrop, a pair of cream sort, and a cream wrap.  Perfection.

Baby Pictures at 7 Weeks Greenville SC: Vannei

One Month baby Photographer Greenville SCI get asked if I do newborn baby pictures outside of the normal 0-15 day window a lot.  And the answer is: yes!  I never turn someone away based on the age of their baby.

However, I do prepare clients that after those first two weeks we’ll likely be capturing more open eyes and smiles with less and less squishy sleepy pictures.  Newborn photography relies on “womb memory,” or the baby being so fresh from the womb that they still like to be squished and are super flexible.  Babies under 15 days will typically let an experienced photographer pose her in so many ways.

Older infants do pose a challenge. I have photographed a number of 4-8 week babies and usually manage one sleepy pose and lots of fun expressions.  Here are Noah’s and Kyran’s sessions from around 6 weeks old!6 week old baby photography Greenville SC

Sweet Vannei was an exceptional subject. We even got a smile!

Vannei was 7 weeks for her session, and while we did get a fair number of awake images, she also fell asleep very soundly for part of the session.  Her parents had made sure she was awake for a little bit prior to coming to the studio, so she fell asleep after a little milk and cuddles.

Natural Sleeping Baby Photographer Greenville SCI began by posing very simply asleep: just cuddled on her back on my Flokati.  She played peek a boo with me for a little bit, as if carefully judging my intentions, but eventually settled into a deep sleep.

And then she let me pose her like a newborn!  We got a wonderful stretch of sleep time, and while she didn’t have the “womb memory” of a true newborn, she still posed beautifully!

Caroline: Soft Organic Newborn Baby Girl Pictures Greenville SC

I don’t have any pictures of the most beautiful part of Caroline’s Session because it happened while I was holding Caroline.

At one month old, Caroline was older than the typical newborn who comes to my studio.  Normally I prefer to photograph little ones under 19 days old because they are so squishy and it’s much easier for them to sleep through the posing for a very long stretch.

As expected, Caroline arrived awake.  And really wanted to hang out awake.  She was nosily staring at my light, so I switched if off and began to rock her knowing that her mama really wanted some sleepy poses.

Caroline did not want to stop staring at me as I rocked and patted, but then her mommy came near to use.  Resting her face against Caroline’s she sang to her while rubbing her forehead.  I kept patting and bouncing and sweetly, Caroline drifted off to sleep.

Sometimes I can only use words to record the sweetest moments in my studio, but the sweet images the followed made the snuggles and singing that much sweeter.Soft Organic Newborn Baby Girl Pictures Greenville SC

Meet Baby Cora who came to my studio for natural newborn baby girl pictures in Greenville SC.

Cora was nearly a month old. This is a little older that I typically photograph newborns (7-15 days), but even so we captured some really beautiful imagery.  If your baby is already past the usual age range for newborns, contact me anyhow.  If I can squeeze you in my shooting schedule, we can still try for beautiful newborn style images up to about 6 weeks of age.

Because Cora was older, she had definite opinions about posing.  Of course she loved being in her parents hands most so we spent some time with mom and dad while waiting for her to fall asleep.

All babies let me know when a position is uncomfortable for them.  I always back off when they make their preferences clear. What Cora liked most was to be on her back.  So for most of the session we kept her nice and cozy on her back.

Tummy Time Pose for Greenville Newborn Photographer Quiet Graces

She did let me do my favorite tummy pose.  I get this pose with 98% of babies under 6 weeks who come into the studio if I am patient enough (a pacifier helps immensely with the “older” newborn).
