2016Lydia came back to see me for her Simpsonville Cake Smash Photography. I can’t wait any longer to share this little bottle of joy with you.
The Importance of Pre-Session Planning
Pre-Session planning helps make a cake smash run smoothly. 12 month old babies run on a tight schedule and when they are done… well, they are DONE.
I tend to shy away from overdone prop filled sessions in favor of simple set ups that keep the focus on your little one’s precious expressions. Lydia’s mama loved that!
Lydia’s mama and I tossed around a few ideas for this cake smash. Lydia loves to get messy, but consuming food isn’t one of her strong skills yet.
So while we did a traditional cake smash, we also decided to explore a new avenue: one year old fine art.
Lydia painted a canvas at the end of her session! I think this is an excellent choice for a baby who has oral struggles or a parent who hasn’t introduced wheat or sugar or who has food allergies, but boy was it messy!
So we decided to finish with a couple of baths 🙂
The Studio Wardrobe
Over the last year, I have collected a studio wardrobe of vintage and timeless pieces for portraits. Most of the studio wardrobe is cream or soft muted colors. No need to take a teething baby shopping or stress over whether or not something ordered online will fit. Most parents bring one special outfit and shop the studio rack while I do the first few images.
We chose this true vintage pintucked dress and knit bonnet for Lydia and I love how they complimented her skin tone.

2015These little ones grow up way too fast. Wyatt came to see me at 8 months, 12 months, and again at 18 months. It’s amazing how fast these little ones move from baby to full force toddlers with their own sweet (and sometimes naughty) agendas.
Wyatt was pretty intent on splashing around in this creek. He made a break for it every time we blinked. I’m so glad he did, because this made for some very special father and son images. These just melt me!
All his adventuring also resulted in a few good tumbles and mommy was the only acceptable solution for those. He ran right into her arms.
And after a few cuddles, Wyatt was off to explore once again 🙂
Clearly we worked really hard to capture a family photo with this adorable busy body!
I can’t wait to see this little cutie again when he turns two!

2015It’s not often that I get the request to do outdoor photography for a session (mainly because most babies get really fussy during sunset hours when the light is so perfect and golden), but I had the opportunity to photograph my nephew Holden outdoors at Huntington Beach State Park last May! I’m posting now because I’m cold… and don’t we all need a breath of warmth in December?I usually wait to do “six month” photography until the baby has mastered sitting. So Holden is is around 8 months old during these images.
He did not think I was funny. At all. Definite Aunt fail on getting him to smile (all the smiles are from his Mommies being crazy in the background… oh and that stick… he LOVED that stick), but he’s still so stinking cute that even his grumpy faces work for him. And those wrist rolls… swoon.
And, yes, Holden is totally pulling out Ruth’s hair in the Family Photos. I want to blow this one up on a huge canvas because it cracked all of us up so much! Little stinker!
We took a few discrete nursing photos. Like me (and most women), my sister had quite the journey to master nursing. We wanted to celebrate their success.
Sweet Holden, Auntie M just loves you to pieces. Please don’t grow up too quickly. And grow in some hair on your temples… you look too much like PaPa in this image. Scarily so. Like Twinkies. Stop it.
Love you!

2015Willow came to the studio for a a quick mini session to celebrate her first birthday! Her pretty handmade dress was my favorite. However, bows and headbands are definitely NOT her favorite.
Once she got rind of the bow she was happy to wander around and make silly faces. I love her stink eye face. It cracks me up!
Since Willow was loving having her picture made, we had a little extra time to stick her in a quick bubble bath. She loves her bath!
Naturally, after we’re all clean we get some happy baby pictures. I love how soft and sweet baby and toddler skin is.
Did I mention Willow makes the best faces?Interested in participating in upcoming baby mini sessions? The best way to stay in touch is to sign up for my email newsletter. Subscribers always hear about mini sessions first! Click here to subscribe and get a free ebook!

2015- When is the sale?
- Saturday November 28, 2015 between 6-9 pm only. The shop is available by clicking here.
- What do you photograph? Do you do family photography?
- I am a specialized studio maternity, newborn, and baby photographer. My studio is located in Taylors, SC about 15-20 minutes from downtown Greenville and 40-45 from downtown Spartanburg.I do not do family photography, except for a few family images at each Heirloom Session. My focus is on capturing your little one’s personality in timeless clothing and tones. Click around the website to see if the photography you’re envisioning matches the style you see presented.
- Can I redeem my session in 2015?
- No, I’m sorry. My 2015 calendar is almost completely booked. The sale is only for 2016.
- How do I pick the session date?
- If you’re wanting a maternity session, pick the month where you will be between 33-37 weeks pregnant. I find that mama’s are most comfortable around 35 weeks pregnant and still feel up to posing. If you’re wanting a newborn session, pick the month of your due date. Session dates for newborns are finalized after the birth and usually occur when baby is between 4-20 days old.If you’re wanting a baby session, pick the month that corresponds with the age of your child. So if you want a sitting milestone/6 month session pick the month where your child is between 6.5-7.5 months old. If you want a one year session, pick the month of their birthday. If there are no options left for your month, the sale is sold out in that month.
- What are your normal prices?
- First Year Legacy Sessions (3 sessions and an album) are $1399. Heirloom Sessions are $499. Petite Sessions are $299. You can view my complete pricing here. For the sale, the Legacy Sessions will be discounted $300. The Petite and Heirloom will be discounted $100.
- What’s included with each session type?
- Will I have to pay the full session amount at the sale?
- No. Regardless of session type chosen, you will only pay a $199 non-refundable retainer fee to secure the sale price (with the exception of the quick finger 40% off Heirloom Session). The remaining fees are due prior to your session date. While the retainer is non-refundable, I will allow you to downsize your plan if needed. So if you purchase a Legacy at the time of the sale and later have extenuating financial circumstances, I will allow you to downsize to an Heirloom or Petite. The same applies to an Heirloom downsizing to a Petite.
- Can I change the month of my session later?
- No. The only exception is newborns, whose early or late arrival may put you outside of the calendar month selected at checkout. I only book a limited number of clients to give my clients full care, the month chosen at checkout is final for all maternity and baby clients.
- What happens after the sale and how do I schedule?
- Within a week of the sale, I will contact you via the email you used at checkout. I’ll have you sign a contact, establish a payment plan (if needed), and have you choose a session date. I am in the studio primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
