2024Looking for a Classic Greenville Baby Photographer? Don’t want fancy sets or lots of colors? Would you rather capture your baby’s natural beauty in classic simplicity? I think you might be in the right place! I’m Melissa, 14-year veteran newborn and baby photographer, located in Greenville County. Timeless, emotional, and natural portraiture of your baby is my passion. Click here to inquire about a session or read on to hear a little about this session with tiny Imani Oshun! Imani is 22 days old in these portraits. Many newborn photographers won’t take babies over 14 days old, but I have found that to be a bad policy. Your baby deserves to be documented beautifully no matter their age. I usually caution parents that we’ll get more awake images and fewer super bendy poses. You can see that Imani was quite awake for the following photos!
I also send you a list of tips to make sure your “older” newborn sleeps through the session. I ask you to make sure your baby has a full tummy and has an awake period before your session. I recommend a warm bath to help facilitate that awake period before hopping in your car. These things coupled with a warm room and a soothing sound machine almost always get us a set of more squishy newborn poses!
When Imani woke, we did some images in safer props and in Mom and Dad’s hands. I try not to waste time in the studio if your little one isn’t hungry or fussy. But if they are hungry or fussy, we do plenty of breaks for feeding and soothing! Your baby will always be treated with respect.Imani eventually settled into a deeper sleep and we moved through the following set of poses. These are my go-to poses for older newborns and they always turn out lovely and comfortable for baby!

2024Wondering what goes on in a Timeless Newborn Photography Studio Simpsonville SC? I’d be happy to welcome you into my newborn studio virtually through this post. So pull up a chair and get ready to learn what a session with me is like. Or you can click here to inquire about booking your own session!
This is precious Jack and his mama Ashley and daddy Jordan. Jack is a little over a week old in these photos here. This is my preference for ages of newborns, but I do work with newborns up to 8 weeks and will do some fun sets for older babies, too. Ashley booked just after Jack was born and I was able to work her in, but I always recommend booking in your 2nd or 3rd trimester to guarantee a spot on my calendar. Before the session, I have parents pick out the colors, props, and poses that they’d like most. I use a questionnaire and video of previous sessions to help you make selections. I do my best to honor your wishes for poses and props while balancing your baby’s comfort level. Your baby is always respected as a person in my studio. I will not force a pose and do my best to flow from pose to pose while they sleep peacefully in my warm Timeless Newborn Photography Studio Simpsonville SC.
Clients are also able to make specific requests in their session planning. I loved including this family heirloom watch in Jack’s session. His tiny hand on this precious heirloom especially melted my heart. However, my favorite images are always family images. Many mama’s hesitate to be in family images and this is why I provide a mama wardrobe and the teensiest Photoshop makeover. New mamas won’t always have a just delivered body after all! Ashley’s dress and Jordan’s shirt are both from my studio wardrobe. You can view the rest of the wardrobe here. Does this sound like the type of session you’re looking for? I’d love to serve you in my Timeless Newborn Photography Studio Simpsonville SC. Click here to inquire about booking!

2024I was really excited when Simone contacted me for a Cake Smash Photos Greenville SC! I’ve photographed all of Simone’s boys at one year old though I think I’ve only managed to blog one which you can see here. This family of boys is one of my favorites. They’re respectful and wild. Silly and responsive. Active and oh so happy! Simone is super laid back and absolutely happy when we capture their real personalities in images. Basically, they’re a photographer’s dream.
If this sounds like your family and your desire for a Cake Smash Photos Greenville SC, then please click here. I would love to run around chasing your wild ones and capture their true personalities on film!
This image of all of the boys together is pretty much spot on for personalities. Aren’t they the best?!
Simone also chooses some of the very best themes for Cake Smash Photos Greenville SC. For Ellison she chose “Here Comes the Son.” Simone appreciates a Boho vibe for sessions so we worked together to come up with a backdrop with her concept art on a Pinterest board. This set was really special to me too because one of my daughters painted the backdrop and the other decorated our cake from Baking Sweet Scents. I contributed the dried florals and this beauty came to life. Making unique backdrops is a sheer creative joy in this family business!
Ellison didn’t disappoint during cake smashing. He even took a nose dive into the cake. Often babies’ reactions to cake are all over the map. Some eat very little, some eat so much cake they go home in a food coma, some are horrified of the texture of the frosting, and others will paint the whole backdrop floor with frosting. I love seeing each unique reaction.
Below is a slideshow of all of the images from Ellison’s Cake Smash. Clients always select their favorite images to include in their digital file package so you really get to see not only the boy’s personality, but also how much Simone values each of her son’s individually.

2024I was so excited for the first Taylors SC Neutral Classic Newborn Photography session of 2024! Bryce was the perfect baby to open the year with. He smiled so many times. Bryce loved being wrapped. Yet, even better, Bryce was absolutely adored by his whole family! Mom, Dad, Grandma, and Papa attended the session together and we had a delightful time ooh-ing and ahh-ing over sweet baby Bryce. If you want to book your own session for your baby or your grandbaby, click here to tell me all about your dream session.
You can see the video slideshow of their full session above, but I’ll highlight a few of my favorites below!
One of my favorite images for Taylors SC Neutral Classic Newborn Photography Sessions is a baby in daddy’s hands. Because Papa was present, I was able to do this combination twice! Bryce even smiled in Papa’s hands twice! Isn’t it the sweetest?
We also took both front-lit and back-lit family portraits and I love them all so much. I’m definitely going to be using backlighting more often in newborn sessions in 2024. We’ll call that a resolution since I love how beautiful these turned out.
Bryce slept through all of the family images and this sweet Santa suit request (he was born right after Christmas!). However, after a bottle, Bryce just wanted to hang out and stare at me.
Look at all the different variety of awake images we captured! Awake images are actually a bit harder to do with a newborn since I have to move the camera to where they are looking. Newborns don’t naturally make eye contact because they can’t focus their eyes well yet.
But Bryce fell asleep again for a few moments before leaving and this is probably my favorite image of the session. He put his hands there on his own and it’s so sweet!

Or keep reading to learn more about how much fun these sessions are and a little bit about the H Family.
I have been photographing the H family since Charlotte was born! Click here to see Charlotte’s Newborn Session. We’ve also done a cake smash and a Gingerbread mini together and each time these kiddos are more fun!
One of the things you should know about me as a photographer is that I tend to ignore parents at the beginning of a mini-session. I prepare you for this and try to answer all of your questions before the session, but I only have 10-15 minutes in a mini-session to get your kiddos to like me and come alive for the camera. So as soon as your kiddos come in, I spend all my energy getting to know them and building a connection with them. Sometimes that means we are running races or dancing or even jumping on the bed.
With the H family, each kiddo is different. James, the oldest, and I talked a bit about school and solved some algebraic equations right on my studio paper. Martin is a complete goofball who I had jumping all over the studio and laughing and all my antics. Charlotte looked at me and told me that she wasn’t in the mood to pose or smile and not in a rude way. Charlotte knows her own mind and I knew respected her wishes by first capturing images of her siblings and having her help with the camera. When you’re three and you see a few images pop up, you naturally want to see yourself on the back of the camera, too. Charlotte clearly joined the fun on her own after that moment of connection with me. We didn’t have to bribe or have a tantrum because she knew I was listening to and respecting her.
Because the H family has worked with me several times, mom and dad trusted my process and the results are fantastic! I even had a moment to capture Corey and Jeb alone while all the kiddos were going nuts either chatting with me or destroying my toy corner.
